aMY sCHANHALS SHARES HER ENTHUSIASM FOR OPENING A NEW OFFICE IN CALGARY

Amy Schanhals

Amy Schanhals, Supervisor of Educational Programs, has been with Rapport for two years and will be moving to Calgary in April to open a Rapport office.

What do you love about your position at Rapport?

I love the excitement and growth that my position affords me in all areas of my life. As we open a satellite office in Alberta, Canada, I have the rare opportunity to jump out on the skinny branches and move to a new country to help expand an organization I am extremely dedicated to and passionate about, Rapport Leadership International.

While in Canada, I will continue to work in partnership with the Werklund Foundation in support of their mission to make a positive difference in the lives of children and teens. Together with the Werklund Foundation, we will continue to work with high schools in Calgary to supplement leadership education within their schools. It is a progressive and exciting opportunity for everyone involved.

Why is working at Rapport important to you?

My position at Rapport awards me the opportunity to work with some of the most giving, committed, and philanthropic employees and graduates of Rapport. They choose to make a difference and give to their communities and they provide me with inspiration. Often, when it comes to teenagers and the youth of the world, we are bombarded with negative press: what they are doing wrong, how they disrespect older generations, and what fears people have for the future once “they” are in charge. My job allows me to see the best in people.  Every time teens graduate, it is a result of them choosing to push themselves to a higher level and their potential is nothing short of amazing.  It is extremely rewarding to know there are strong, motivated, and dynamic young people who will make a positive change in the world.

What is special about Rapport graduates?

The Rapport family exemplifies how a thoughtful and committed group of individuals can change the world, and we do it everyday. Whether it is lending an ear to a friend in need or creating entire leadership initiatives within a community, our graduates exemplify leadership. Rapport graduates proudly take the lead and the necessary action in life; it is truly inspiring and I am honored to be a part of it.

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."

-Margaret Mead
