Background:
Business culture is an enabler of performance that must be continually developed and maximized. A culture is constantly changing and evolving and must align with an organization’s core purpose, vision, goals, strategies and actions. Planning to grow and improve your business requires the evolution of your culture. Take the time to discuss, plan and begin creating a Breakthrough Culture with your team.

Set Up:
Explain the following Breakthrough Culture Model™ definitions:
Breakthrough Leadership:
Breakthrough Leadership is rooted in core purpose and values, and leaders are developed in all roles, functional groups and levels. Breakthrough Leadership aligns with vision, goals, internal and external performance, growth, action, purpose, positive influence and giving back.
Breakthrough Vision:
Breakthrough Vision exists in the present and the future. It acts as a compass and not a map. Vision flows and permeates all cultural systems; it’s the unifying power and energy that guides all action.
Core Purpose and Mission:
Answers the questions: who we are, why do we exist and what do we do?
Core Values and Philosophy:
Answers the questions: what do we stand for, what guides our behavior and what makes us unique?
Strategic Goals:
What are our long term (2-5 year) goals?
Business Priorities:
What is our immediate (12-24 month) focus?
Internal Performance:
The organizational behaviors, systems and processes.
External Performance:
What is delivered to the customer and how the stakeholder needs are met.
Process:
Step 1:
Discuss each aspect of the Breakthrough Culture Model™ with your team.
Step 2:
Review your organization’s strategic goals and business priorities from the previous year.
Step 3:
Clarify strategic goals and business priorities for the upcoming year.
Step 4:
Debrief with the following questions:
- What did you learn about your organization’s culture?
- How clear have the organization’s goals been in the past? What needs to change?
- What role will leadership play in the coming year?
- How will vision exist in the present and the future?
- How will your organization’s core purpose, mission and values influence future decisions?
- How will your business culture influence behavior and results?
- What breakthroughs need to take place to bring your business to the next level?
